Caleb Bright 1850 & 1860 Census

caleb-bright-1860-census caleb-bright-1850-censusCaleb Bright (1800-1864) was the father of Charles Bright (1841-1931) who was the father of Clarence Bright (1882-1956) who was the father of Neil Bright (1919-2012) who was the grandfather of Curtis Bright.

The 1850 Census lists Caleb Bright as a farmer born in North Carolina with real estate valued at $4,000.

Keziah Bright was five years younger than her husband, and she was born in Ohio.

In 1850, Charles and Keziah lived with their children Harvey (16 yrs), Mary (14 yrs), Alfred (12 yrs), Charles (10 yrs), Levi (8 yrs) and Caleb (2 yrs).

Charles and Keziah’s older children (Bethenia, John, Elizabeth and Isaac) were adults in 1850 and were no longer living in the family home.

The 1860 Census shows that Charles (19 yrs), Levi (17 yrs) and Caleb (11 yrs) still lived at home.

Caleb’s real estate value in 1860 is listed as $3,800, and his personal estate value is $1,000.

As a side note, by 1860, Charles and Keziah’s three oldest children (Bethenia, John and Elizabeth) had died.
